  • Female: 150 - 370 lbs depending on shifted species
* Lhy Zerani snow leopards are larger than their kindred/non-Blood counterparts, although they are the smallest of the shifter species.

Origin:
As far as the Lhy Zerani are concerned, as long as there have been Blood, their people have existed. Some stories are that their Kindred cousins wished to bridge the gap, to have representatives that could speak and walk through both communities in the absence of Witch. Others tell of Blood driven into the wilds of the early country, seeking safety either by transformation through Craft or in the protection of the Kindred they came to mirror. Either way, no single history exists for any two types of Zerani peoples, and most accept that they simply exist, and don't question it. Where ever they might have come from, they're wide spread enough now that it doesn't matter.

Appearance:
As Blood, Lhy Zerani are difficult to tell apart from their neighbors. Varying physically from territory to territory to match, they have no average height, weight, or look. Most will be athletic in some way, and can be found farming or doing other physical labor. Perhaps their robust nature may give them away, although, truly, there are no visible marks of difference between Lhy Zerani and a Blood with one shape. They simply are.

In their four legged forms there are many variances, dependent on geography, bloodline, and overall territory, often very visually similar to their kindred counterparts. There are those who favor Glacia, Northern Askavi, Dhemlan, and any other region with harsh winter climates that permit snow. Their fur is grey, with white underbelly and darker grey rosettes, and are characterized with a long, fluffy tail almost as long as their bodies. They may be slightly better fed or larger than their snow leopard cousins, but they are remarkably similar in look.

In more tropical regions the shape a Lhy Zerani may take has more variation. Jaguar and leopard shifted Blood are fairly common in all areas, as their medium sized build allows for easier disguise than their tiger-shifted cousins. Leopard and jaguar Zerani are as hard to tell apart as their Kindred and non-Kindred cousins, and often only the families of the two will truly know the difference, although there is frequent intermingling in most areas they occupy together.

Tiger Lhy Zerani are similarly mirrored, indistinguishable from their neighbors save for their general better health. While there are several lineages who have adapted to the colder snowfields, most are found in grasslands, forests, and jungle landscapes. Some may even be found in swamp lands, depending on relative habitability in both their shapes.

Lastly, although the least alike, are the lion and cougar Zerani. While like the rest of the species they can live anywhere, those with Lion blood typically favor open farming grasslands and drier climates, while the cougar Lhy Zerani fill most gaps left by the others. Mountain regions that aren't cold enough for snow, forests that change with the seasons; of all of the differently shifted, cougar shifters are probably the most widely spread.

Behavior:
Most follow the instinctive patterns of their shifted form, and may live alone or with one other member of their family, the one outlier being those of the lion shifted type, who mirror their kindred and non-Kindred 'relatives', favoring larger family units. Most Lhy Zerani females are predominantly solitary, with a few very close, dedicated friendships and often one or two consistent lovers. They raise their children alone or with female partners, and are dangerously territorial of their offspring. Males are more likely to form small brotherhood bands until they are able to support themselves, but it's not uncommon to find four or five males living in one house, teaching each other trades and imparting life experiences. Older males may also take younger students to educate for anywhere between five and twenty years, or until they deem themselves able to make it alone.

Separate from baseline Blood Court life, the Lhy Zerani operate in smaller units. A Queen may have her alternating consorts and no one else, or no consorts, with the men simply acting as Stewards of whatever her holdings may be. Their overall disinclination toward concrete social structure means that territories, while significantly smaller than those with official borders, see a much more rapid change of hands. Queens are the only ones who fight over land unless a male has been recognized as holding a Steward-like position in the stead of a Queen for over a year, and the majority of land disputes are handled in their shifted shape. A challenger may come from another location to take a territory, or a Queen can expand her territory by challenging and beating her neighbors. If a dispute is deemed a draw through mutual determination, both Queens retain their preexisting borders. When a Queen retires, or dies, a gauntlet is held to determine her successor. Territories are not passed down through lineage, although a Queen may groom an heir in the hopes of passing on her lands to hands she approves of.

All of these things happen outside of the determinations of the Courts, and does not affect the standing of a Lhy Zerani in service of the territory they live in. One may be part of an official circle and have no standing within the Lhy Zerani community of that District, Province, or Territory. Alternatively, a Queen may have a territory that spans between two Districts, and is viewed as the highest authority within the neighborhoods she runs.

They are typically slightly larger than their kindred cousins, and range farther, as Lhy Zerani in general may migrate or simply move following human inclination over feline instinct. Their temperament may be more catty than the average Blood, but the truth of them is a well kept secret, and they ignore territorial overlap as much as they are able, despite how little they might like being in close quarters with one another.

There are enough of them that a Lhy Zerani can typically find a Priest or Priestess of their own kind to perform Birth Right ceremonies, as Zerani children frequently end up unintentionally attempting a first shift mid-descent. Parents may travel for miles to locate a trusted Priest or Priestess to perform the rite, as typically the only counter measures for those who happen to discover the truth of the children are death or mental manipulation.

Virgin Nights are also often handled differently from non-shifting Blood. While nuance may vary between lineages, tribes, or types, a female Lhy Zerani often engages in first blood combat with prospective 'mates' who she or her parents may have selected for the rite of passage. While the lady in question may choose a partner without the fighting, and can declare that intent before the bouts begin, most will run a gauntlet of between two and five combatants, either ceding to the one who over powers her or, if she proves victorious over each, choosing from among the losers. Depending on the size of the community, several Virgin Nights may be held at one 'event', allowing for broader intermingling between families that might otherwise only interact peripherally or loosely.

Virgin Nights may also mark a lady's last days with her family before leaving home. While not required, and not common during the reign of Witch, women may use the opportunity to strike out on their own and stake out new 'territory' out from beneath their mother's shadow. Lhy Zerani are one of the people most likely to travel a great distance before settling into a new home, as most consider the larger the gap between their birth home and their new residence an indicator of maturity.
