Min Sung

The Basics

Full Name: Min Sung
Age: 84
Gender/Pronouns: Female/She/her

Ethnicity: Mixed Race
Birthplace: Dharo, Amyntas Province
Current Location: Little Kaeleer
Profession: Healer

Caste: Healer
Birthright Jewel: Summer-Sky (CUT 24)
Offering Jewel: Green (CUT 40)

Face Claim: Olivia Munn

The Body

Height: 5’5
Body Type: Slender
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Dark golden brown

Appearance:
Min is of a medium height, standing around five feet and five inches tall, and she can’t exactly be called curvy. Her Dhemlan mother gifted her with pin straight black hair that bleaches in the sun. She curls it when she feels the need and when she does, it falls in easy waves just past her shoulders. Her dark golden brown eyes have a hint of green she got from her Dharoan father. Freckles dominate a rather long face and her chin and jaw are somewhat square giving her a stubborn appearance. Her slim romanesque nose sits between sharp cheekbones and her mouth is lush and full. Min is slender but well built with slightly broad shoulders and a slim waist.

The Mind

Craft Strengths:
Healing Webs
Craft Healing
Diagnostic Sight
Healing Brews
Sight Shield
Craft Weaknesses: Though she excels in both Craft Healing and Healing Webs, Min under preforms using regenerative webs and craft based surgery. Her combat skills are laughable and she’s awful at physical craft.

Personal Strengths: Fiercely protective, compassionate, loyal
Personal Weaknesses: Blunt, stubborn, secretive, no sense of self preservation

Personality:
Min is fiercely protective of those she calls her own and will always come to their aid. Compassion is something she's always had in spades, a broken bird or a broken child are her greatest of weaknesses. Min has no concept of subtly and will always tell it like it is. The only time she'll try to soften the blow of her words is when dealing with a distraught parent or tearful child. She knows that her words can damage just as much as a wound she is healing but she also knows that sometimes there is no sense in beating around the bush. To call Min stubborn is almost an understatement.

She has a dogged need to go about unescorted when she heals, believing herself safe from the inherent all or nothing Healers give, and she tries to slip out unnoticed by her chosen escort. Min has no real sense of self-preservation, something she would know if she wasn't so determined to disbelieve it, and she has no problem rushing headlong into trouble. This is especially true when she is faced with someone or something that needs her Healer's touch. Thankfully she's never come across something that could drain her Jewels to the point of breaking. Not that her Warlord Prince escort would allow it even if she did.

The Backstory

Family:
  • Dae Sung | Mother | Summer-sky to Opal Black Widow
  • Jace Demos | Father | White to Rose Warlord
  • Pearce Sung | Older Brother (+7) | Rose to Purple Dusk Warlord
  • Kostis Sung | Older brother (+5) | White to Rose Prince
  • Julian Drakos | Escort | Summer-sky to Green Warlord Prince

History:

Fifty years before the fall of Witch, Dae Sung wove a Tangled Web, a foretelling of birth and death. In this web of dreams and nightmares, she learned that the only children she would ever have would never see the land of her birth. Never again would Dae Sung see the rolling hills of Isha in Dhemlan. Had she ignored the weaving, had she silenced the web, the treachery of Witch would have seen Dae Sung a broken, shattered shell. She crept from her homeland, searching where the web sent her until she found her way to Dharo where she settled. She met the man who would sire her children just after the fall of Witch, her sons born shortly after their marriage. But it was the daughter, Dae waited for.

AW18: Min is born. The labor was intense, painful and deadly. Dae Sung did not survive her daughter's entry into the world. Though Jace mourned the loss of his wife, he never blamed his daughter for the death of her mother. Her brothers were protective and fierce towards her and as she aged, Min became extremely adept at sneaking away.

AW28: It became obvious that like her brothers, Min would have a longer lived life than most people in Dharo. Min under goes her birthright ceremony, she comes away with a Summer-sky jewel, her father could not have been more proud. Her paternity is not in question. Min's innate healing ability becomes apparent when she heals her brother's broken arm.

AW35: When Min reaches the age of adolescence for those who are of mixed race, she and her father decided on a close family friend as her mentor. The woman had been a good friend of Dae’s and near enough to a second mother to Mom that it had been a simple choice to make.

AW40: Min begins her healer’s training with a Purple Dusk Jeweled Healer. She became adept at Healing Webs, Craft Healing and Diagnostic Sight. Her teacher could never get her beyond rudimentary regenerative webs and surgery. Min loves the feeling of helping people, that natural compassionate nature of hers wakened even more.

AW52-54: A few years before her Offering Min is determined to have her Virgin's Night. Too much could happen between now and her offering to take any chances. After careful consideration and planning between Min, her father and her mento, a family friend is chosen. Three days before her thirty-sixth birthday, a Opal Jeweled Warlord assists her through the night. The day after her birthday, Min goes through her Offering Ceremony. She descends three levels of the abyss and comes away with Green.

AW63-80: Min reaches her majority, at the tender age of forty-five and is given her full Healer status. She sets up shop and helps those who need it for very little in return. Jace Demos, Rose Jeweled Warlord lays down to take a nap and never wakes. Min is devastated by the death of her father, but at ninety-two he had lived a full and wonderful life. Her mentor follows Jace’s death rapidly and it is a double edged blow for Min.

AW82-102: Min desperately tries to heal a young landen boy who had been pinned beneath an overturned cart. She doesn't really remember much except the rough and hard voice next to her ear, fiercely telling her "You can not heal the dead, Lady!". Warlord Prince Julian Drakos attaches himself to her hip, insisting that if she wouldn't take the escorts provided by her village he'd see to it himself. He's been with her ever since. Though she loved her little village, Min wanted to see more. She wanted to travel and see everything there was to see. Giving her assurances to her brothers that she'd be just fine, Min and Julian traveled from Dharo ten years ago and made their way across the world to settle themselves in Little Kaeleer. She likes the atmosphere, he hates it. They'll get a long just fine.

She waited until he was asleep before she slid the window open and deftly crawled through it. She knew he'd find her eventually, all roaring and growling that she was a danger to herself when he did but Min didn't care. She had some where to be, a person to help and he wasn't going to stop her. She could manage his dominate male temper better than most, even if he got his way in the end. All she would have to do was show him the small landen girl with the awful cough or the half Blood boy with the crippled arm. Then he'd roll over and forgive her. She'd even make sure she was safe. Well... As safe as she could be beneath a double green shield.

They were urchins really, the children she healed on nights like tonight. Orphaned and alone, half Blood and landen, they didn't have the money to spare for healing and Min couldn't let the children suffer. "Mother Night," she exclaimed when she finally got to the abandoned building her children waited in, "Ming, it reeks in here!" And it did. Like vomit and urine and it was everything Min could do not to bundle the six of them up and stuff them in her house. The shuffled around her, the youngest complaining of some stomach bug that caused him to puke every where and the oldest, Ming, with her cough. The child's lungs were weak and living as she did wasn't helping.

"Take the healing brew for three weeks, Ming," she demanded, "Three weeks, not a day less. You understand?" She tapped her toe as she waited for the girl to give her answer. She smiled when she heard what she wanted to hear and grabbed the boy with the crippled arm against her. She knew she'd never be able to right what was wrong but she could help it feel better so she snuggled the smelly child into her and planted a kiss on his hair. Healing webs and healing brews were given, children were fed from the basket of food she called in and they giggled and laughed.

She sat with them while her heart swelled at those happy sounds until she knew she'd left it almost too late. He'd be up soon and start searching for her if she wasn't careful. With a heavy sigh, Min gave her farewells, extracting promises to not forget the healing brews before she made her way outside. Closing in on dawn. What was she thinking taking so long? She berated herself as she slid along the streets, shielded and not paying attention around her. She didn't notice the body standing in her way until she slammed face first into it. "Darkness take it!" she yelled, "Why don't you watch where you're going!"
