Appearance:
Lithe and fit from adolescent hobbies turned adult routine, Zephyrine is a slight woman, but curvy. Delicate hands, delicate wrists. Cheekbones like knives and a plush mouth normally resting in a smirk or a wry smile. Warm skin, sun kissed and hair kept at a soft blonde. Short hair, more for practicality than a statement, island temperatures wreaking havoc on her curls.

Zephyrine likes to dress light, flaunting Paon's heat and her own figure with gauzy outfits and delicate fluttering layers. At the same time there's rarely a day that she doesn't have some kind of jewelry on her person, either as delicate curling ear cuffs, engraved torques, bangles, or rings. Her favorite items, and the ones seen most consistently, are a set of full finger rings fashioned like claws. Although she owns a full set of ten, she typically only wears them on the pinky and ring fingers of her right hand, covering up the snaketooth more as a type of habitual courtesy than because she cares weather or not people see it. She does nothing to hide her psychic scent, after all, but routine is routine.

Personality:
Ambitious. Greedy. Stubborn. Zephyrine is all of these, and then some. She's always desired to break out of the pit of her childhood, and a part of her will likely always be trying, and it makes her covetous of her position and the power that comes with it.

That said, she isn't the type to react with malicious intent toward those that make attempts towards what she considers hers. Rather, if she can bring someone into the fold and make her desires theirs, why not? She likes to make games of people, to tease and taunt and entice, especially her husband. There's a thrill that comes from knowing the right buttons to push on a person to get them where you want them, and Zeph hunts that thrill. And if someone can't be bent toward her wants, which are always the most paramount, well. A little poison goes a long way.

The people Zeph dislikes the most are those that are either too simple to provide engagement or the ones that break the game. She likes to flirt and be flirted with, and frustration is not something she entertains with grace. She's more likely to simply side step through a wall to avoid a boring conversation than listen to someone talk about something boring.

As it is, Zephyrine is looking out most for herself and what's hers. It just so happens that 'what's hers' includes one husband and a lot of stuff.

History:
An accident, Darkness' gift to a woman who had been spurned in her own jewels, but an accident none the less. Shame of her father, a mark of his dalliances, and with a mother too fearful to seek webs for her daughter's future, Zephyrine grew up her own rock. Her own first friend, first confidant, first schoolmate. Zephyrine, crafting stories of her own dreams before her snaketooth had come in. Daughter of a net mender and a man trying for higher than his jewels would allow, even the other children were wary of of. Uncertain, a child with a changing scent but an opaque future, too variable to commit to.

Her Birthright comes in a storm, rain slicing against her skin, wind screaming, mother screaming. Zephyrine sprinting into the waves. No one to come after her, as she waded into the water, sinking into the tide. A deep breath, the plunge - digging into the wet sand beneath her, searching by touch. Small fists closing around something warmer than the sand and calling her name.

She walks out of the sea with a Summer-sky in hand, and it's no time at all before her psychic scent settles and her nail darkens. While her mother shifts from proud of her daughter's darkness to wary of her caste, and her father spends more and more time away from home, Zeph turns her attention upward and out, the fantasies of her childhood growing. She wants off Thure, she wants a position of influence. She spins her own webs diligently, like clockwork, leaving nothing to chance until her webs warn against it. Try and predict too much and lose her chances at a better life.

Instead she takes to the sea, swimming, to long walks on the hot sand, gazing out across the ocean. Watching the raider ships. Envying the men their ability to leave, hungry for change. She spends less and less time with her mother, who insists on covering the darkened nail while in her house. She obliges ostentatiously and covers her hands and arms in gold and powerless gems, finds a passion in collecting intricately done metal work.

Years pass. An apprenticeship to learn the Craft of her caste, refining her webs, learning to make the most of the snaketooth. Zephyrine is the opposite of her mother, unsatisfied and eager to adventure. Rebellion lives in her, makes her cocksure and feisty, flaunting her body the older she gets. Aware of the way she attracts wandering eyes, eager to explore that aspect of herself as well.

At eighteen she makes her Offering, matching her father, who's more a shadow at the corner of her attention than a man by then. She takes up almost permanent residence with her mentor, spins webs for expecting mothers and unfortunate children, saving to leave. For all of Thure's size, Zephyrine doesn't want it. Image tainted by the maelstrom of resentment from her mother and dwarfed by her own desires.

Her webs show her beaches of a different type, and she dreams of grass covered in blood. It's the first image she focuses on, eager to find the image of the sand and the waves in real life as well as her webs, and it's on one such venture along the island that she finds her first husband. Julien is a raider visiting from Corlay, and beautifully, wonderfully dark. Theirs is a whirlwind romance, a quick marriage, and she steps up and out of her old life and into a status she enjoys. Raider Wife, on a new island with new people and a space untainted by the touch of a family she never wanted to claim.

New markets to hunt and new servants to bend to her will. A new view to contemplate, and new beaches to walk.

Then Julien has to go off and get himself killed, and she hates herself for not seeing anything but bloody grass for weeks. She had loved him, in her way, more for what he represented than for who he was, but she had cared for him and he had been hers, and he went off and died. At a card game no less. At least, she'd learn later, he hadn't been the one to be cheating.

When his accidental killer declares her his responsibility and new vows lay over old, Zeph finds she can't fault him too harshly. With a Red, a face like that was almost over indulgent. And there's a power in keeping the house of a man like that.
